1958-2009. A short life for a very gifted and talented man. Michael Jackson in the worlds and my image was the true king of hip hop and pop music. From the time he began as a young child singing classics such as the ABC, and Ben with his group of brothers known as the Jackson Five, to the prime of his career when the greatest selling album of all time came out, known as Thriller. He displayed some of the greatest songs of all time, such as Billie Jean, Beat It, and of course, Thriller. To this day, the album has sold more than 100 million copies!!

Through all the false scandals and despite what Michael did with his skin and his health issues. Mind you I’m not being racist against anyone, but he was better looking and much more “normal” as a black man. No matter what obstacles Michael has been through, he still managed to keep the world entertained with his amazing music and help it at the same time. He loved children. He used to say, that he would see God in their eyes. Michael also loved animals, he had a pet monkey named Bubbles. He had his own private zoo as well.

Overall, despite a rough childhood, Michael was just a lovable guy all around, everywhere you went he spread his care and love to everyone, through himself and through his music. I am certain that as a die hard Michael Jackson fan, that there will never be another person quite like him. Not a better pop king, nor a better dancer, or singer. Michael was it. All I have to say is, teach Jesus how to do the moonwalk Michael, you are home in heaven now. Rest in Peace. You legacy and spirit will always live on here on earth, through your music, and your beloved fans!!

!!Long Live Michael Jackson, The King Of Pop!!

High School is over, or close to it. The real world is upon us. There will be no more teachers to guide us the right way anymore. Once we enter that real world, there’s only two things guiding us, ourselves and faith. Other than that, we are one young adult, in a very big world of opportunity. I really don’t feel like looking back upon my years of high school, because it is in the past. Though some times were tough, and some times were fun, it is the past, and now, I need to focus on the future, a great future. My future after high school. In my opinion it does look promising.

Through high school, I loved the subject of English. It was my all time favorite subject. I love to write is the reason why. I could write about anything in essay form, it wouldn’t matter what topic, I could turn it into an essay. I plan on taking this shall I say gift, and turning it into something great, by becoming an English professor for a college. My goal is to go to ECC south for two years than transfer up for four years somewhere else. My plan is to get a doctrine in the field of English and hopefully tech in a college university somewhere where I can spread my gift of writing to the future of America. My unique writing style which consists of writing what you feel, and not what is required on the sheet of paper with directions. Mind you that is important, but write it your own unique way, the way that will get you to succeed, more from the heart than the brain.

The next step pasted being a great professor in college would be to raise a family of my own. One of my life goals, to meet my other half, one that will love me for me, one that I can tell anything to without being criticized, one that I will love and respect more than any other in this world, and one that i can hold in my arms and call my angel. Yes, I want to find my other half, my one true love, my wife. I hope that I can find her while I am still in college, and get to know her very well before I get married. I will know when when it is the right girl, because you can tell when you are inseparable based on how you talk. If you can even finish each others sentences, know what one another is thinking, you know that the love is true. That’s what I am waiting and hoping to find.

Ten or even twenty years from now, aside from being an English teacher and a husband, I hope to have a family by then, and also used my gift of knowing the lord to have become a youth pastor to teach teenagers about Jesus Christ. I wish to have a house, not too big, just big enough to fit a family. I still plan on being in Buffalo, just the fact that the city here has grown so attached to me, I don’t think I could move away forever. The one thing I hope for most is, no matter what the road or what God has in store for my future, I just hope it is a fullfilling one.

What Is The Solution To Such A Terrible Epidemic?

Suicide. It has become an epidemic among American teenagers in today’s society. Suicide, (Latin suicidium, from sui caedere, to kill oneself) is the intentional taking of one’s own life. Definition wise, in simplest of terms, it means to kill yourself. But what causes our American teenagers to dip to the turning point where they feel they have to take their own lives.

Well, take a look at some of the problems that teenagers face in life, and you may find a clean cut answer. Parents always say, “oh, you have it so much easier than we did”, most of the time, that isn’t necessarily true. Teenagers today are faced with a lot of pressure.

School has gotten a lot harder, thus teens feel they are put under more pressure to succeed, resulting in most failing their grades, or some just giving up and dropping out of high school all together.

Bullying is also a MAJOR issue that is linked to suicide. Parents say they used to get picked on, and they dealt with it, fine, but now a days, you have technology, like the internet, cell phones, and other sources to get bad rumors spread about you. It may only be words, but it can really hurt someone, and link to them committing suicide.

Dating is also a big thing that could navigate to a guy or girl to take their own life. If one party in the relationship believes that they are in love with the other person, but yet the other person doesn’t feel the same way, that person could get crushed inside. He or she could be filled with so much heartache, they may see no other alternative but to end their life. Just imagine how the other party would feel once that happened, they would be broken as well, thinking it was their fault, but really it wasn’t, the person was just troubled and lost in the world. In most suicide cases involving dating, the person who had killed himself/herself, was using dating/love as a way out of other problems they may have in their life, and when that person leaves them, they see no way out of that troubled life, but to end it.

We have covered all school aspects toward suicide, which are all important mind you, but the most important aspect that leads teens toward suicide today I believe is a broken home. If a teen has to deal with abuse and neglect at school, where he/she is bullied, and no one will bother to pay attention or listen to them, then come home to the same abuse and neglect with their parents, it leads to things like that to happen. These things at home could include physical abuse by the parent, sexual abuse if it is your daughter, or simple neglect/ignoring your child. Simply ignoring your child’s needs can lead them down to rebelling and dangerous paths. Examples, changes in clothing styles, changes in friends, surroundings, drugs, sex, always out with friends, always on the computer, or it could lead to eventually suicide if neglected and abused enough. My opinion, a broken home is the leading cause to suicide today. There are other reasons, but these are some main points.

What parents and teachers need to do, is start to listen to teens and hear what they have to say. Instead of punishing them all the time, to make the situation worse, mind you sometimes action is the way to go, the only way. We need to start listening though. If a child comes up to a principal or a teacher and tells them they feel horrible and are on the break of suicide, instead of ta telling to the nearest person about it and getting that student in trouble, actuaaly listen to what the student has to say. It helps when they have someone to talk to because they may not have that kind of refuge at home. Together, we can help save teens everywhere, just lend out a helping hand.

If Downtown Buffalo Wants To Get Out Of Its Economic Slump, Then It Seriously Needs To Think About Going Green To Save Not Only The Environment, But The Economy As Well.

Global Warming. A problem that has effected our country for decades, not just as a city of Buffalo, or as a state of New York, but as a country, the United States of America. The problem has recently become rather famous in the eyes of the American people since the early 1990′s. Scientists have linked man to the rapid increase in our Earths temperature, and the change in our weather patterns, but no one listened. Until 1997. The Keyoto agreement.

1997. Keyoto, Japan. The United States and other world leaders agree to sign a treaty. This treaty known as the Keyoto agreement, guarentees a mandatory cut back in CO2 emissions used by the many countries of the world. For the United States, the 1990′s were the best economic times in the countries history. Prices were down, spending was up, and stock was never higher, and under president Bill Clinton, who dertermined to keep us in a green surplused economy, it seemed like things were looking great for the future. The Keyoto agreement was sure to pass under Bill Clinton. It wasn’t.

2000. The election of George W. Bush. The Keyoto agreement was stalled until the new president was elected. Bush, being the Republican that he is, his conservative beliefs in the economy and offshore drilling, rejected the Keyoto agreement, saying it would hurt the United States economy in the future. We reject a treaty that was supposedly going to hurt us, but yet we get ourselves involved in a pointless war, another Vietnam, and spend trillions of dollars of taxpayers money, and spiral ourselves down into the worst economic downslide since the Great Depression. How ironic, we reject a treaty that can help our country, but we fear it would “hurt” our economy, but the exact thing we were afraid of came true, without the Keyoto treaty even put into effect.

If the United States or Buffalo have any hope to survive this crisis, instead of spending newly appointed President Obama’s stimulus money on bonuses on people that don’t deserve it, they should spend their money on things that matter, like the middle class, or factories. Factories of wind mills, or solar panels, or flo0resant lights, anything to go green. I believe this is the best way to help the country go green and to save our economy.

With His Amazing Play And Drive To Win, He Should Bring Great Excitement To The 2009-2010 Bills Season

Just when we thought the free agency couldn’t get any more excited, or any more confusing in the NFL, in a stunning move, the Buffalo Bills sign the outspoken Wide Receiver, Terrell Owens to a one year: 6.5 million dollar deal. This is just two days after Terrell’s release from Jerry Jone’s team in the Cowboys. The move has stunned all of Buffalo and WNY, but also the entire NFL nation. Sources all over the nation are paying attention to the Bills now because of this recent signing. The fact that the Bills were willing to sign Owens, despite rumors that Owens would not be signed for a while, because of his attitude, and his small market for such a high market player.

Rumors around Ralph Wilson stadium speculate however, that even though Owens has his history with yelling at quarterbacks, that it was Quarterback, Trent Edwards that encouraged the front office to make their decision in hiring Owens. Edwards had returned to California and was following up on the Owens story. No more than ten minutes afetr Owens was released fromt eh Cowboys and it was broadcasted on ESPN, Edwards had apparently sent a text message to Bills General Manager, Russ Brandon, stsing in one simple sentence, “What about T.O?”

In a rally, the Bills were able to fly Terrell Owens up to Buffalo from Dallas, and almost immeadiatly after the two parties had met, a contract had been made up, and T.O signed on the dotted line. The Bills were in need of a big time Wide Receiver to match with starting wideout, Lee Evans, and Terrell Owens was looking for a new home. All in all, the deal was a match made in heaven for the Bills as well as for T.O.

Terrell owens impact, I believe will be huge this year for the Bills. It will encourage Trent Edwards to throw the long ball a lot more often now with more confidence knowing that he has two amazing receivers in Terrell Owens and in Lee Evans. Expect to see Roscoe Parrish in a lot more play this year as well. With Terrell and Lee in the game, most teams will double cover both of them, leaving the crazy speedster wide open for a big play every time. This year is gonna be a blast. GO T.O.!!!!!!!!!!

Well just when you thought it couldn’t get any worse for poor old Chance, it did. The ending, struck me more as sad then exciting as I thought it might have at first. Just as Chance thought he was helping he was helping his poor family, he goes to figure out that the stuff he has been picking up is not what he seems. It is not drugs, it is explosive and defensive equipment for terrorists that he is picking up, that the marine guy has gotten Chance in on. Terrorism!! Chance knows that he got into the wrong business and immeadiatly goes for help, but by the time help arrives, the terrorists are already at his boat trying to find him, but instead they find his father. Two terrorists get on board and try to kill him but he is able to fight them off, but when he heads off below deck…..BOOM!! The boat explodes with his father inside, his father never made it out and he was blown to the ends of the earth.

As a result of his fathers tragic death, Chance finds refuge with Melissa and her father, and he comes to live with them for a while. This is where I begin to think that something was going to happen betweeen the two of them. I was wrong. Rather than taking her in, and settling down with a girl that he knows he has feelings for, and I believe he knows she has feelings for him too, he dumps his chance at love, and joins the army.

My opinion, after all that had happend to Chance, I believe that the book deserved a more just ending than this. At least better than this. Why dump a girl you know you care about, and a chance to be happy for once in yor life. Oh well, I guess Chance will never know. This concludes Runner. Thanks for reading.

Somehow and someway, we all grow up. No matter how weird or stupid or funny we act as kids or teenagers, we all grow up eventually and turn into adults. Certain events our in each of our lives that cause us to turn on the light bulb and say, heh its time to grow up. Whether its a move to a new town, whether its going from having it good to going poor, or to having a death in the family, something of the sort happens to us that gets our attention.

In the book Runner, Chance and Melissa, our two main characters have events happen to them that cause them to them which cause them to grow up, but each in a different way, seeing they both come from different backgrounds, or different lifestyles of family. Chance lives on a boat, has an alcoholic dad with no job, and has to live off barely any food, and he already has a job. Melissa on the other hand, she has a dad who is rich and has a job, she probably has enough food to last her a lifetime, and she could never find a job and still make it good because her family has it so good.

Chances changes occur with the events that have happened in his life so far. Based on the facts that he lives on a boat and he barely has enough food to live on, it dawns on him to get a job. The fact he would not accept Melissa’s help for money, even though their dad’s are best friends, an adult probably would not want the help, he/she would probably be stuborn and tell them they will deal with the problem themselves, like Chance did with Melissa. A normal teenager however would have taken the help no questions asked.

Melissa as she matures I think she relizes that the world dosen’t revolve around her kind of people, the rich. Which is why she takes sympathy for all the people overseas at the war, thus during the Brent Miller discussion in the beginning of the book. She also agreed with Chance when it came to the discussion on the poor people busted their butts and taking all the heat for this country, instead of the rich taking more hits, the fact that its always the poor that are in trouble. She offered Chance assistance with his financial problems because of the situation that he is in. I believe that she is beginning to relize that just because she is rich, she doesn’t ahve to have the attitude of a snob, that she can help others less fortuanate than her. We will see how they both turn out as the book goes on.

The book that I have been reading Runner, has been very good so far since the cover, but one topic that i found very eye-catching and at the same time, questionable is when Chance is asked to run for easy money by the marine guy at the boat harbor. Chance is told to take a backpack and pick up paqckages on occasion and just continue running, then when done, drop them off at the boat harbor.

What I find questionable about the whole thing is a couple of points. First what Chance had said, is it drugs, or is it just routine business. Second, why would he take it upon a simple kid really to do this rather important job for him. If its that im portant why doesn’t the marine guy do it himself. Sounds like he can use the excersise. Besides if Chance slips up at all, I see a b ig problem strirring up between the two.

What I find interesting is the job offer, the amount of money Chance is being offered to do this job, and what Chance intends to do with this money. I am very interested to see what Chance does with the kind of money he is getting, whether he’ll save it, spend it on a decent meal, or just give it to his father. Overall its peaked my interest. I’m also very interested to see along with taking the job offer whether Chance will benefit from this job or if it will just run him down a road to trouble. Chance has not had the best of luck lately, hopefully with this new offer flaming on his door step, it will benefit for him and his dad.

Who knows, maybe with his somewhat new found fortune, Chance will take out that Melissa girl that he has been hanging out with. What better way to get closer to a friend?

Recently in our senior English Class, we have started a new project, per say, we have each chosen a book of our own to read, then when we are done reading it, at the end of the unit, we have to do a write up on this book. We tell our thoughts on the book, would we recommend the book to anyone, and whether it was an all around good book or not.The book I chose was Runner.

Runner is the story of a troubled teenager named Chance, who lives on a boat with his drunken father. Now a lot of the kids think that because Chance lives aon a boat, that it is this huge lot with a huge deck, with a bunch of lounge chairs and the whole nine yards. Everyone in school thinks Chance is rich. The only one who knows he isn’t is Chance himself. The boat isn’t pardise at all. It is a small, old, crappy boat that is about 30 feet long with barely any space for the two of them and has just enough food for Chance to live off of. There is a deck, Chances father is always on it, getting drunk, all night with some kind of drink. It s anything but paradise.

Chance has problems at school as well. The school bully, back when he was in school, Brent Miller, had returned, but as a guest speaker, and as a soldier. Chance was looking to pick a fight with him, but backed down. He wanted to pay him back for all the wrong that he did to him, especially when he shoved Chances head down a toilet of wizz and crap. He had also come to defend one of the girls in his class, a girl named Melissa.

Melissa had a few screws lose, but she expressed her own opinion, and Chance one day favored that opinion. There is not much on them yet, but I believe they will eventually end up together, somehow.

What I think of this book is, it displays the life of a troubled teenager in high school. It is an attractive book to readers our age (17-18), because somehow, most of us have been through what Chance is going through right now. Whether it is a broken home, or problems at school, we are all like Chance in some way. I look forward to seeing what happens in the future of this book.

Well it is 14 days before the Super Bowl. That means that the Monday after the big game, resigning and free agency pick up will begin for teams across the NFL. However Bills Quaterback Jp Losman has other plans for his future. After constant pressure of being kicked out of the starting Quarterback position, and constant critisism from the people of Buffalo, Jp Losman is saying no to another year of stress and disaster in Buffalo.

Losman, after finishing up a 24 million dollar contract thisd year will offically become a free agent this offseason. A lot of people say that Losman will not be reconized upon in the free agency because his lack of “talent” he showed on the Bills as their starting Quarterback, but I believe that Losman will be reconized as a future leader or at least a backup to many teams across the NFL.

His best bet for Quarterbacking in the future however may have to come smaller than the Buffalo Bills. I’m talking the Detroit Lions. Once they sign a coach that will commit to the team and stay loyal to their Quarterback andf to their offense, and stay on the aggresive side of the ball, I believe it would be the best fit for Losman.

Despite the fact that they recently signed Dante Caulpepper, I believe if given the chance, Jp Losman would win the starting job in Detroit over Caulpepper. I believe that even though he would not have the reciever in Lee Evans anymore on Detroit, he would come to love the great recieving ability of Calvin Johnson. He is very tall, so he could extend his hands over most cornerbacks, and he has great receiving hands and can run fairly quick. I think Losman and Calvin Johnson would go great together on hail mary routes, in other words, Losman’s favorite pass.

In equivlant to taking another good receiver as a first pick in the draft, and establishing an offensive line that you can be proud of and a tight end that can catch and run with the ball, and finally, coaches that actually know what they are doing, I believe Losman and the Detroit Lions would be the best fit for a promising career, the team just has to come together and play smarter more aggrsive football.
